Changes to the Ontario Sex Education Curriculum

Student

Sex education has always been an educational "hot potato!" The Ontario Ministry of Education plans to launch an updated sex ed curriculum in the fall of this year. Yesterday, Premier Wynne announced that teaching important issues of consent and healthy relationships will be an integral part of the curriculum. Further, she added that children, beginning in grade 1, should be taught how to read and understand body language and facial cues in an effort to better develop their communication skills. There is no doubt that as these new policies unfold, there will be much conversation in schools and communities.
